Vans (N1) will not be able to travel through the low-emissions zone without an environmental sticker or authorisation.

Fines started to be issued on 15 September for vehicles travelling along the Barcelona Ring Roads Low-Emissions Zone with an environmental sticker or authorisation. However, an additional moratorium had been granted in the case of professionally driven vehicles for transporting goods and passengers, with different extension periods depending on the type of vehicle in question. April 1 marks the end of this additional time granted for (N1) vans after the moratorium had been extended for a further few months to help them to adopt less polluting fuel.

At the same time, the moratorium has also expired for (M1) cars and (L) motorbikes driven by low-income self-employed individuals, which had also been extended owing to the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 crisis, as well as the economic threshold, being twice the Public Income Indicator with Multiple Effects (IPREM).

We remind you that a series of grants and subsidies have been made available during this period for purchasing low-emission vehicles intended for the transport and urban distribution of goods, as explained on the zbe.barcelona website.

Cutting traffic and reducing public spaces allocated to private vehicles in the city are key to improving air quality.
