Activation of new parking spaces in Zone 21 of the regulated parking area
In Barcelona, the AREA system helps to organise on-street parking, improve mobility and promote a more sustainable and accessible city for everyone.
It is a dynamic system that is periodically adjusted according to the needs of each zone, in order to offer a better service to citizens.
Activation of new parking spaces in Zone 21
We inform you that, starting 24 November, signage works will begin to regulate on-street parking on the streets of Zone 21 indicated on the map.
As part of this incorporation of regulated parking spaces in Zone 21, 192 new Green zone spaces will be painted.
These spaces will be for preferential use by residents, and non-resident vehicles may only park for a maximum of two hours during the regulated hours shown on the corresponding vertical signs.
Residents registered at addresses within the newly incorporated streets, who are the holders of a private vehicle domiciled in Barcelona, will not need to carry out any procedure.
The new parking offer will be complemented by 109 motorbike spaces and 6 Urban Goods Delivery (DUM) spaces.
Please note that:
With AREA resident parking rights, you will be able to obtain parking tickets at the resident rate corresponding to your zone, without the need to carry out any additional procedure.
How to get parking tickets?
To obtain parking tickets, we recommend using the free SMOU app, where you can:
• Get tickets for specific days or until the end of the year
• Do it digitally, without paper or parking meters
• Check receipts if needed
• Tickets are digital and can be validated in real time by enforcement agents
Implementation schedule:
• From 24/11/2025: Horizontal signage works (painting of new parking spaces on the street) and vertical signage works (installation of regulatory vertical signs).
• 09/12/2025: Activation of the newly incorporated parking spaces.
